It's one of my favorites actually. What's weird is how you can have a dress for years and nobody will notice it until the random random day when you wear it out of season. Almost everyone I talked to today complemented this dress even though I had worn it several times before. One of my friends said it was because everyone seems to favor the color gray this winter and thus a bright color really catches their attention. I suppose, but shouldn't bright colors always catch your attention? I'm not complaining, just surprised.

Bonnie Klydehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01169400915745996848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2931390952910104508.post-37578606961580934162009-10-12T22:27:00.000-04:002009-10-15T13:47:18.795-04:00Back from the DeadHello All,

First I must apologize for the absurdly long, unannounced hiatus. I'd wear it with the Hudson Skinny Jeans which have a 27 1/2 inch inseam so they don't awkwardly puddle at your ankles. they would also be paired with flat shoes in a very Hepburn-esque way. I picked a very violet and blue color scheme because it's not too abrasive and reminds me of every soft summer night I spent running out of the woods with my face painted with squashed firefly. This, is a true midsummer night's dream.
Bonnie Klydehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01169400915745996848noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2931390952910104508.post-57590628009895675632009-07-01T19:38:00.000-04:002009-07-01T19:38:01.105-04:00Model Chic: Kamila FilipcikovaModels are often noted for their fresh faced beauty and ability to put personality to a designer's outfit. What many do not know however, is their unique approach to style off the catwalk. Models usually have to be minimalistic with their wardrobes to keep the attention on their bodies and showcase their natural beauty. However they always manage to have fun within these rules! Kamila Filipcikova has fantastic style. It's put together on a basic level with two well-respected standbys: the linen shirt, denim short, and large bag. Yet it has intricacies and quirks that add personality, like ruffles, bows, a fedora, and suede boots. I recreated the look here in a more late-summer friendly way with cutout flats which are an adorable summer alternative to sandals.

Counterclockwise from bottom left: Eugenia Kim Max 8 Straw Fedora-$280, Jas M.B. I am now technically a senior. I want to start this off right so I must become organized. This means, I must re-examine my carry-all. I can almost always be seen carrying my huge satin tote (which my friend Greg calls a purse...it's entirely too big to be a purse) everywhere from school-to the mall. On days when I must carry more than usual, I revert to my extra-large sized LL Bean Boat and Tote. Inside both of these magnificent bags is a world of chaos. See, I tend to throw everything inside and then spend a good minute or five trying to fish out what I need. Sometimes things actually get damaged inside the bag when I put them in there to be protected! Thus, change is necessary. Here's how:

It is a little sad how much difference this would make. Perhaps it could keep my ipod from ending up scratched and my pencils from breaking. Plus, it's got roosters on it! One miracle at a time please. For those of you in school this might mean interships and other summer programs are quikly approaching. While everyone else is going off to the country and the beach, you get to slave away in the city, dealing with chilly offices and sweltering concrete. Now, chances are we've all spent at least one summer at home growing up and lounging in the park was fine in cutoffs and flip flops, but this time around the dresscode is a little more grown up. Last time you checked, cutoffs didn't cut it in the board room and opaque tights and an oxford didn't mix with hot train stations. So where does one find common ground?

Clockwise from top left: AE Fedora-$24.50, 3.1 Phillip Lim Jumpsuit-$850, YSL Jacket-$1,302, F21 Winged bracelet-$5.80, Monica Vinader bracelet-$370 & cocktail ring-$335, Kara by Kara Ross Cuff-$420, Matt Benson KM wedge-$188, Chanel tote-price upon request

Gender bending menswear inspired styles are always good when you want to give yourself an edge. After tons of shopping we were about to cross the street to go to the train station when I exclaimed "Oh my God I have a compulsive shopping problem" Indeed I do so this summer I will go to retail rehab and stave off trying my hardest to buy stuff. Here's my last purchase for quite some time:

Even though I can read the cardinal directions on the street signs, I have already started getting pains in my neck from constantly checking this necklace to see what direction I'm facing, it just never gets old. Currently I am facing northeast, hi New England! Nautical Compass Necklace-$28

I also purchased a number of items at H&M that I cannot show you (but oh how I wish I could) Aside from that I went almost bloodthirsty (or rather soap thirsty) at Lush. In fact, as I ponder it, I could limit this retail rehab to clothing and stock up on beauty products. So check out La Biologie more often this summer. The temperatures will stay high, the sun will stay shining, and when the sprinklers come on, you will have to drop everything and cool off. So like my lovely friend Paige, be prepared with a swimwear wardrobe. Your best bet is to invest in a few two pieces, that way you can mix and match to suit your style and outfit. Here two looks I'm totally coveting:

This:

+This:

Top: Roxy Urban Flora Tiki Tri Bikini -$38, Bottom: Gap Essential Classic Bikini-$24

This:

+ This:

Top-$58, Bottom-$48, Both: French Connection

Happy Summer!

Bonnie Klydehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01169400915745996848noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2931390952910104508.post-34812668524214594422009-05-23T07:45:00.000-04:002009-05-23T07:45:57.648-04:00AERIE SALE!!!!Aerie lingerie definately trumps VS Pink for affordable, adorable skivies. The thing is, I've never been into logo-flashing so the thought of being a walking billboard for Victoria's Secret anytime I must remove the bottom portion of my outfit is less than enchanting. Don't get me wrong though, go there for bras, but trust the lower half to Aerie. For a limited time pick up 7 of your favorite styles online for $25. Get it while it's hot! The film features a movie within a movie as director Richard Benson (Holden) tries to write a last minute screenplay while his secretary (Hepburn) types everything down offering suggestions along the way. The imagined movie stars Hepburn as Gabby or "the girl who stole the Eiffel tower". The plot of the fictitious film is kind of hard to follow however Hepburn does wear some interesting outfits. I've modernized my favorite look from the beginning of the screenplay, when Hepburn goes to a cafe for Bastille day. Hepburn's look here is classic with a bright twist. It's summery and fun yet very ladylike.
Bonnie Klydehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01169400915745996848noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2931390952910104508.post-30041310418723687892009-05-10T19:31:00.004-04:002009-05-14T19:14:15.676-04:00Paloma and Gnocchi or How to find One's Voice.

Dress: Splendid-$44; Belt: AE-$24.95; Gladiators: Juicy Coutoure Jackie Gladiator-$195; Nirvana From the Muddy Banks of Wishkah-$9.49; Veruca Salt American Thighs-$8.97; Book: Macmillan-$18;Mag: Bust-$19.95 for one year's subscription

My friend Mira was partially right when she said to not even attempt second semester junior year. The look consists of fresh-faced, natural beauty and pin straight hair. This is usually my go to look for spring and summer. Low maintenance yet polished beauty is always in during the warmer months. For this look, think clean line, and fresh, airy, light materials. Opt for this season's neutrals and edge it out with just a pop of neon. Use little make up. You only need the essentials: mascara, blush, sheer lip color. Accessorize sparingly!

This dress is simple and even a bit ethereal. I can finally stay home and relax from all that school slyly slips into my bag and writes in my planner. This also gives me time at long last time to devote to Nouvoletta. Oh how I missed her and all of you guys!

The saying goes that you look as good as you feel. Recently a friend told me that statistics show that it's the other way around. I'm not sure what statistics these are but I can definately attest to their truth. So, in order to speed my recovery I have decided to look into some under-the-weather fashion:

Untitled by BonnieKlyde featuring aerie sleepwear

Old Navy Boyfriend Cardigan- $29.50, Simone Perele Stilletto Demi Cup Bra-$99, UO Opaque Tights - $12, Aerie Polka dot Boyfriend boxer- $15.50, Modcloth Old and New Pocketwatch Necklace- $27.99

There's something very spoil yourself in a sheer, airy lace bra. This one's a fabulous demi cup version which is delicate and classic. Tights under boxers have been my freezing dorm staple.

Untitled by BonnieKlyde featuring aerie accessories

Aerie Summer Cardigan- $34.50, Aerie Colorblock Nightie- $19.95, Juicy Couture Behave Glasses- $130.95, Aerie Ikat Print Scarf- $19.50, Aerie Ruffleback Tie Dye Lowkini, L'artiste Feminin Notebook- $3.99

This outfit matches my bedroom completely. Pink and Green can brighten your mood no matter what. Next to the cardigan, scarfs are totally an essential. Your neck can get cold, and when it does it's not comfortable. When I'm sick I also tend to not wear contacts. For some reason, people equate glasses with intelligence. They always make me feel like I should be doing something at least!Bonnie Klydehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01169400915745996848noreply@blogger.com2
